Home of the San Diego Padres in San Diego, CA.
The Western Metal Supply Co. building is the left-field foul pole — a four-story brick warehouse from 1909 that HOK Sport built the entire park around rather than demolish. That decision defines Petco more than anything else: architecture with consequence, not decoration. The design sits low and open, framing downtown San Diego and letting marine air move through freely. Get the tri-tip nachos early — Cardiff Crack tri-tip over chips is the concession worth the walk — and Hodad's bacon cheeseburger with potato wedges is a legitimate second stop. The East Village location makes arrival easy; the Gaslamp Quarter starts at the front gate, and postgame foot traffic disperses naturally into the restaurant grid. Crowd energy is warm without being loud, paced to the California afternoon. First-timers should buy a Gallagher Square lawn ticket at least once: watching the game from the grassy hillside beyond the outfield fence, from the outside looking in, is an experience unique to this park.
