American Family Field

Home of the Milwaukee Brewers in Milwaukee, WI.

What's it like to attend a game at American Family Field?

The fan-shaped convertible roof — the only one of its kind in North America — pivots from a single point behind home plate, and whether it's open or closed changes everything: the light, the acoustics, the feel of the whole park. Arrive early enough to tailgate; the parking lots fill with charcoal smoke and bratwurst hours before first pitch, a pregame culture that has no real baseball equivalent. If you're coming from elsewhere in the city, check which bars are running free shuttles — dozens do, and it's the most Milwaukee way to get there. Inside, start with a brat dressed in Secret Stadium Sauce before tracking down fried cheese curds with ranch. When a Brewer homers, watch the left-field stands: Bernie Brewer hits the slide, and the crowd noise tells you everything. First-timers should try to catch one game with the roof open and one with it closed.
